Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation is a cult favorite of many celebrity makeup artists. Something about the way this photographs makes it so interesting. If you follow Keeping Up With The Kardashians, you noticed that Kim Kardashian’s skin always looks flawless. Apart from her skincare regimen and numerous face treatments that she has, this foundation is her favorite one. I must confess, I used to watch this show sometimes. Not because I’m a big fan of her, but because it’s different and maybe I do like all the glam and the luxury they show!
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation ($82)
I wanted to try this foundation for years. Last Christmas I finally splurged on this and ordered it as a gift from my boyfriend. You know the feeling when you wanted something for so long and you finally get it? How about topping that with actually having a good experience? This is how I felt about this foundation and, until this day, still feel. Trying a luxury foundation has really revolutionized the way I think about beauty products. Not in the “luxury beauty products are the best” way, but some of them really are great. Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation has a luminous satin finish, as the name states. It’s lighweight, blends in really well and it does make you look 10 times better than before applying it. I think this is the effect that illuminating foundations have on the skin in general, but there’s something about this one. The skin looks really pretty when I wear it, like it’s airbrushed.
My shade is 5 and fits my skin perfectly. The coverage is medium at most, I always use concealer on spots and on my dark circles. I imagine, for someone who has good skin in general, this foundation would be a blessing. If you have normal to dry skin, the better. On my combination skin, I feel the need to powder after 5-6 hours, which is still better than the average foundations that I’ve tried, including mattifying ones. I do like this foundation a lot and I’m thinking of repurchasing it after it’s finished. In the near future, I’d like to own only 2 foundations that have impressed me: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk and Estee Lauder Double Wear. If you’re on a budget, L’Oreal’s True Match is a nice dupe for Luminous Silk. I can’t tell the difference between them in terms of texture and finish, but what I did notice is that Giorgio Armani stays on my skin better than L’Oreal, which is still important. It is however extremely nice when you splurge on something and turns out to be what you expected.
Have you tried this foundation?
