New books on my bedside table

new books hygge, pretty honest

Reading is one of my favorite things to do when I want to relax. I used to read a lot more, I even bought a Kindle for that purpose. But then life took over again and I gave up this healthy habit for a while. Boy what a mistake! Reading has a lot of benefits, some of which include mental stimulation as a way to keep your mind active, stress reduction or improved creativity and imagination. I remember the first book that truly impressed me. “Memoirs of a Geisha” by author Arthur Golden, published in 1997. I read this book in only a few days, followed by watching the movie and I loved them both. Another book that I enjoyed very much is “Me Before You” by Jojo Moyes. I actually saw the movie first, then read the book, which I found to be so much better than the movie.

Pretty Honest by Sali Hughes

Lately, I’ve seen this gem everywhere. This is actually my first beauty related book. I only read like 100 pages of it and I can say, it’s quite interesting reading another woman’s thoughts on beauty, makeup and looks. Sali Hughes is a well known journalist and The Guardian’s resident beauty columnist. The book is dedicated to all women who are interested in learning more about makeup and beauty in general. Sali shares her 20 years of experience in a feminist and funny way.

The Little Book of Hygge: The Danish way to live well by Meik Wiking

I was always so intrigued seeing this book in the social media. Everyone seems to rave about it, and I guess it has something to do with the cover of it too (it’s so pretty). I didn’t get a chance to read a single page out of this one, but I’m dying to. My friends recommended this to me so it must be good.
